To enhance international students’ understanding of Guizhou’s history and natural culture and enrich campus life, our university organized five Laotian international students to participate in the “Colorful Guizhou” cultural experience activity, embarking on a deep cultural journey through time and space.
On the afternoon of the 19th, the students stepped onto the ancient cobblestone road in Qingyan Ancient Town, exploring the 600-year-old town and experiencing its charm, which was built due to the military garrison during the Ming Dynasty and is hailed as an “epic written in stone”. They visited the Qing Dynasty city gate, Dingguangmen, and strolled through the unique “Back Street”, where stone walls and quiet alleys have served as filming locations for movies and TV shows, making them feel as if they had traveled back in time. They also tasted local specialties such as the “Zhuangyuan Braised Pig’s Feet” and “Gao Ba Xi Fan”, savoring the authentic flavors of Guizhou through their taste buds.

On the afternoon of the 26th, the students visited the Guizhou Provincial Geological Museum, which showcases the mysteries of Earth science and features architectural elements of Guizhou’s karst topography. They toured the permanent exhibition halls such as “Mysterious Guizhou” and “Colorful Guizhou”, learning about Guizhou’s unique geological structure, the evolution of ancient life, and mineral resources through ancient fossils, mineral crystals, and immersive multimedia displays.
This activity combined humanistic history with natural science, providing international students with a comprehensive window to understand Guizhou. The students expressed that the event allowed them to directly experience the profound depth of Chinese culture and the wonders of nature, deepening their understanding and love for Guizhou’s culture in China.
