Our university’s faculty and students’ heartwarming assistance to farmers was reported by media outlets including Tianyan News. Recently, a quiet agricultural aid initiative unfolded in Ludishao Village, Hongfenghu Town, Qingzhen City. In just two days, teachers and students from Guizhou Open University (Guizhou Vocational Technology Institute) helped a cancer-recovering farmer sell his unsold peaches, using their expertise and compassion to safeguard the fruits of his year-long labor.

After overcoming illness, the farmer has been determinedly focusing on peach cultivation. However, this year’s unusually heavy rainfall during the flood season caused many peaches to rot and fall prematurely, putting them at risk of going unsold. Upon learning about the situation, Huang Lan, a teacher in the field of online marketing and live-stream e-commerce, quickly assembled an aid team. Integrating classroom practice with community service, they brought training directly into the orchard. Working collaboratively, the team carefully selected high-quality fresh peaches, sorted and packed them, and loaded shipments. They expanded sales channels through social media promotion, offline distribution, and word-of-mouth marketing, establishing a temporary production-sales network.

Within two days, over 1,000 jin of previously stagnant peaches were sold out, generating more than 2,500 yuan in revenue delivered directly to the farmer. This effort not only alleviated the farmer’s immediate financial pressure and preserved his hard work, but also allowed students and teachers to put youth responsibility into action—applying professional knowledge to address urgent and pressing issues faced by local communities.
