To deeply study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and to promote the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the National Education Conference, accurately understanding how to tell China’s story well in building a powerful nation in education, and to improve the international communication and cross-cultural communication abilities of teachers and students, on November 12th, our college invited Professor Liu Zhaohui to give a special lecture on enhancing international communication capacity for higher vocational colleges. The lecture was conducted both online and offline, with over 800 faculty members and student representatives attending in person, and over 10,000 views on the live online broadcast. The lecture was chaired by Yu Liqun, a member of the university’s Party committee and deputy principal.

Professor Liu Zhaohui explained in detail how to tell China’s story well and enhance international communication capacity from six aspects, including the relationship between the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee and international communication, the current situation and challenges of international communication in higher vocational colleges, and the basic principles and specific practices for enhancing communication capacity. He analyzed the problems and challenges in international communication by combining the experiences of higher vocational colleges at home and abroad, emphasizing the integration of theory and practice, which is instructive and practical.

Globalization and the construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative have promoted exchanges and cooperation between China and the world. International communication is crucial for enhancing the country’s soft power. Everyone should actively participate in exploring and disseminating the unique cultural resources and educational achievements of their regions and colleges, showcasing China’s trustworthy, lovable, and respectable image. In future work, we will draw on experts’ suggestions, actively explore and innovate, and strive to enhance the college’s international communication capacity, making greater contributions to the international development of vocational education.
