On December 22, 2024, the 10th Guizhou University Statistics Information Visualization Competition provincial final and award ceremony were held at Guizhou University of Finance and Economics. The event was jointly organized by the Guizhou Provincial Bureau of Statistics, Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, and Guizhou University of Finance and Economics. It was hosted by the Guizhou Provincial Statistical Science Research and Education Center and the Ministry-Provincial Jointly-Run School of Big Data Statistics, and co-organized by the Key Laboratory of Big Data Statistical Analysis, Guizhou Green Development Strategy High-Level Think Tank, Guizhou Qianxing University Think Tank Alliance, and the China Western Green Development Strategy Research Institute of Guizhou University of Finance and Economics. Our university was honored with one first prize and three second prizes.

The competition, themed “Focusing on New Quality of Production Force to Promote High-Quality Development in Guizhou”, utilized statistical information and data visualization methods to showcase achievements and potential in areas such as regional innovation, economic transformation, and ecological protection, highlighting the value and application of big data in high-quality development. The competition aimed to promote the in-depth integration of statistical knowledge and visualization technology, to discover and cultivate visualization talents, and to further strengthen the goal orientation of “promoting learning through competition, teaching through competition, and publicity through competition”.

After the preliminary rounds in various universities across the province, 158 works were recommended from 618 entries to enter the provincial competition. After online scoring by experts, a total of 22 outstanding entries, including static images and dynamic works, were selected to enter the provincial final on-site evaluation. Among them, 4 works from our university were shortlisted for the provincial final on-site evaluation. After fierce competition in the on-site evaluation, our university won a total of 4 awards, including one first prize and three second prizes.
