On the afternoon of July 26th, the theme conference on the integration of e-sports industry and education of the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week was held in Gui’an New Area. The conference was hosted by the Secretariat of the Exchange Week Organizing Committee and organized by Guizhou Open University (Guizhou Vocational Technology Institute). Representatives from governments, universities and enterprises of China, South Korea, Cambodia and Thailand attended the conference. Jiang Shan, the chairperson of the Education Trade Union of Guizhou Province, and PHOUMIKA KONG, a representative of the Ministry of Education of Cambodia, delivered speeches. President Luo Yong of Guizhou Open University and other university leaders were present.

President Luo Yong gave a keynote speech titled “E-sports Connects Mountains and Seas, Integration of Industry and Education Creates the Future”, emphasizing that the university serves the national strategy and regional development through the integration of industry and education. By establishing the China-ASEAN E-sports Study Abroad Center and a provincial-level industry-education integration community, the university aims to solve the problem of the disconnection between talent cultivation and industrial demands. The university has collaborated with enterprises such as Tencent and NetEase to innovate a “three-in-one” model of “order class + certification + practical training”, promoting the integration of the education chain, talent chain and industrial chain, and creating cultural IPs such as the International Youth E-sports Competition, which has received over 100 million views on the internet, promoting the coordinated development of culture, tourism and sports.

MEN CHOMNAB, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia, He Wenyi, Secretary-General of the National Sports Industry Research Base of Peking University, Dr. Gan Honglong from Chiang Mai Rajabhat University of Thailand, Professor Che Jae-gwan from Honam University of South Korea, Li Xiaohan from Communication University of China, Nanjing, and Xu Yuxiang, Director of the NetEase (Changsha) Digital Industry Center, spoke in turn.

This conference, using e-sports as a medium, transformed the enthusiasm of the youth into a new engine for regional collaboration. Relying on the “Belt and Road Initiative” and the ASEAN Digital Connectivity Framework, it opened up a new channel for cross-border integration of industry and education, making e-sports education a key support point for the coordinated development of the regional digital economy.
